Dialup Connection Settings

Windows 98

There are two ways to start the wizard:

  1. Double-click on the Internet icon on your desktop.
  2. Go to the Start button. Choose Programs, Accessories, Communications and then click Internet Connection Wizard.

If neither of these options work for you, give Sentex a call, otherwise continue. Microsoft changes this program so your version may vary. All the information you need is here.

  1. Select "I want to set up my connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN)" and hit the Next button.
  2. Select "I connect through a phone line and modem" and hit the Next button.
  3. Internet Service Provider information. Type the local dial up number for your location and remove the check mark beside "Dial using area code and country code" and hit the Next button.
  4. Account logon information. Type in your Sentex user name and password. Your user name is idm/sentex/ and then the first part of your email address. Example would be the user name idm/sentex/johnsmith and hit the Next button.
  5. Connection Name. Type "Sentex" and hit the Next button.
  6. Internet Mail. Select "Yes" and hit the Next button.
  7. Display Name. Type your full name or the name that you want others to see and hit the Next button. Example "John Smith".
  8. E-mail Address. Type your email address here. Example johnsmith@sentex.ca
  9. E-mail Server Names. The Incoming mail server type is a POP3 or IMAP. The Incoming mail server name (POP3) is mail.sentex.ca and the Outgoing mail server name (SMTP) is smtp.sentex.ca and hit the Next button.
  10. Internet Mail Logon. Type your account name and password. Your account name is the same as your user name. Example "johnsmith", your password and hit the Next button
  11. Completed Internet Connection Wizard. Once you see this screen you hit the Finish button.

To sign on to Sentex try double-clicking on the Internet Explorer (Browser) or Outlook Express (Email Program) on your desktop. The Connect-To window should pop up. Hit the Connect button and the modem should dial.
